Mission
Our Mission at Rio Vista Counseling is to improve the quality of human life through effective and responsible counseling and therapy. We will empower the individuals we serve to lead a happy, healthy and productive life.
Purpose
Our purpose at Rio Vista Counseling is to assist individuals in determining their life’s path by helping them see where they have been, where they are now and where they want to go. We will do the following:
- Empower individuals to live life to the fullest and be a active participant within their community
- Provide services and supports that are tailored to meet the needs of the individuals.
- Support and services are provided to the extent there is a demonstrated individual need without fostering dependence
- Provide counseling and therapy that starts from and builds on individual and family strengths and interests.
- Provide counseling and therapy that is flexible and responsive to the individual changing needs and growth
- To ensure individuals and their families choices in and ownership of the counseling and therapy process
- Counseling and therapy shall protect and maintain self-esteem and dignity of individuals
Basic service values and principles
- Individuals can live in and be a part of the community in the same manner as would any other person of like and age, culture, and interest despite their challenges
- Support and services are provided to the extent there is a demonstrated individual need and no more
- All persons have strengths and interests and are capable of growth and development at their own individual pace
- Successful human planning starts from and builds on individual and family strengths and interests.
- Human planning must be flexible and responsive to changing circumstances and environments
- Individuals and their families have choices in and ownership of the planning and therapy processes
- Planning and Therapies shall protect and maintain self-esteem and dignity of individuals
- Planning and Therapies shall focus on the outcomes and visions which the individuals wishes to achieve
